Joyce Ashuntantang was born in Kumba Town, Cameroon. She is presently an Associate Professor of English at University of Hartford, Connecticut. An actress, poet, screenwriter and filmmaker, she is the author of several important texts including Landscaping Postcoloniality: the Dissemination of Anglophone Cameroon Literature (2009) and A Basket of Flaming Ashes (2010). She earned a B.A in Modern English Studies from the University of Yaoundé, a Masters in Librarianship from the University of Wales, U.K., and a PhD in English from the City University of New York. She is the CEO/founder of EduART INC; a non-profit organization created to promote art as a medium for social change.
