Patrick Friesen

Patrick Friesen is a poet, essayist, playwright and translator living in Victoria, B.C. His most recent publications are Jumping In The Asylum (2011), A Dark Boat (2012) and A Short History Of Crazy Bone (2015). He has co-translated five volumes of poetry with Per Brask, including the translation of Danish poet Ulrikka S. Gernes’s book, Frayed Opus for Strings & Wind Instruments, which made the Canadian shortlist of the 2016 Griffin Poetry Prize. After being a resident of Winnipeg for thirty years, Friesen now lives in Victoria, BC and is a teacher of creative writing at the University of Victoria. Friesen often collaborates with dancers, choreographers, composers and musicians. Along with writing poetry, he also writes songs for musicians and texts to Improv Piano.
